Entry requirements

Entry to the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Interior Design undergraduate programmes requires students to have attained the General Education Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
The following criteria must be met for entry into the programmes: BS Aerospace Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Computer Science, BS Information Technology, BS Biotechnology, Bachelor of Architecture, and Bachelor of Interior Design.
English Language Requirements:
Students from non-MoE curricula that are taught in English are exempt from providing English language proficiency evidence.
Students from non-MoE curricula taught in a language other than English must demonstrate proficiency through international standardised tests (IELTS 5 and above, or its established equivalent).
Students from the MoE curriculum must demonstrate proficiency through their High School English grades, which must not be less than 80%.
Conditional admission may be granted to students who do not meet the English proficiency requirements, including those from non-MoE curricula taught in a language other than English and those from the MoE curriculum.
The following requirements apply:
Non-MoE Curricula Taught in a Language Other Than English:
Students with an IELTS score between 4.0 and 4.9, or its established equivalent, are permitted to register for the non-credit-bearing English remedial course along with two General Education courses.
These students must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in Semester 1; failure to do so will result in probation.
Students with an IELTS score between 3.0 and 3.9, or its established equivalent, are permitted to register for the non-credit-bearing Intensive English course along with one General Education course.
These students must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in Semester 1; failure to do so will result in probation.
Students with an IELTS score below 3.0, or its established equivalent, are permitted to register for the non-credit-bearing Intensive English course only.
MoE Curriculum:
Students with a High School English score between 70% and 79% are permitted to register for 12 credits of courses, comprising credit-bearing courses and remedial courses.
These students must achieve a CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in Semester 1; failure to do so will result in probation.
Students with a High School English score between 60% and 69% are permitted to register for the non-credit-bearing English remedial course along with two General Education courses.
These students must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in Semester 1; failure to do so will result in probation.
Students with a High School English score below 60% are permitted to register for the non-credit-bearing Intensive English course along with the General Education Arabic course.
Programme-Specific Requirements:
Cluster 1: Engineering Programmes
For BS Aerospace Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, and BS Mechanical Engineering:
High School Requirements:
Students must have achieved a 60% average in their Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12).
Students must have scored 80% or higher in Mathematics and Physics under the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum, or its equivalent.
Students must have scored 80% or higher in Chemistry or Biology under the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum, or its equivalent.
Conditional Admission:
Students with a high school average below 60% may be granted conditional admission.
Conditionally admitted students are permitted to register for a maximum of 12 credits in Semester 1.
Students who score below 80% in the required subjects under the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum, or its equivalent, will be granted conditional admission.
These students will be required to sit the Amity Placement Test (APT) for the specific course.
Failure to attain a minimum score of 60% in the APT will limit the student's enrolment to a maximum of 12 credits in Semester 1, comprising credit-bearing courses (including a combination of General Education courses and introductory-level courses) and remedial courses, the composition of which is at the Dean's discretion.
