Entry to School of Engineering Architecture Interior Design undergraduate programs requires students to have attained the General Education Secondary School Certificate (G 12) or equivalent. The following criteria must be met for entry into the programs: BS Aerospace Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Computer Science, BS Information Technology, BS Biotechnology, Bachelor of Architecture, and Bachelor of Interior Design. English Language Requirements: -Students from non-MoE curricula that are taught in English are exempt from providing English Language proficiency evidence. -Students from non-MoE curricula taught in a language other than English must demonstrate proficiency through international standardized tests (IELTS 5 and above or its established equivalent). -Students from the MoE Curriculum must prove their proficiency through High School English grades, which should not be less than 80%. Conditional admission can be allowed for not achieving the English proficiency scores for students from both non-MoE curricula taught in any other language other than English as well as those from MoE curricula. The following requirements are to be adhered to: Non-MoE curricula taught in any other language other than English: -Students securing an IELTS score between 4.0 and 4.9 or its established equivalent are permitted to register for the non-credit bearing English remedial course along with two General Education courses. These students ought to secure a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in semester 1; failure to which shall lead to probation. -Students securing an IELTS score between 3.0 and 3.9 or its established equivalent are permitted to register for the non-credit bearing Intensive English course along with one General Education course. These students ought to secure a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in semester 1; failure to which shall lead to probation. -Students securing an IELTS score less than 3.0 or its established equivalent are permitted to register for the non-credit bearing Intensive English course only. MoE Curricula: -Students with high school English score ranging from 70% to 79% are permitted to register for 12 credits of courses which shall encompass credit bearing courses and remedial courses. The student ought to secure a CGPA of 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 in semester 1; failure to which shall lead to probation. -Students with high school English score ranging from 60% to 69% are permitted to register for the non-credit bearing English remedial course along with two General Education courses. These admitted students ought to secure a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in semester 1; failure to which shall lead to probation. -Students with high school English score less than 60% are permitted to register for the non-credit bearing Intensive English course along with General Education Arabic course. Program-Specific Requirements: Cluster 2: Natural Sciences Programs For BS Computer Science, BS Information Technology and, BS Biotechnology: High School Requirements: -For BS Information Technology: Students must have achieved a 60% average in their Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12) in the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum or its equivalent. -For BS Computer Science: Students must have achieved a 60% average in their Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12) in the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum or its equivalent, including 60% or more in Mathematics and in any one of the Science courses. -For BS Biotechnology: Students must have achieved a 60% average in their Secondary School Certificate (Grade 12) in the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum or its equivalent, including 60% or more in any one of the Science courses. Conditional Admission: -Student with high school average >= 60% but with score in the specific subject below 60% (BS Computer Science: Mathematics and any one Science course, BS Biotechnology: any one Science course) may be granted conditional admission, and will undertake Amity Placement Test (APT) for the specific course. Failure to attain a score of >= 60% in APT will limit the student’s enrollment to a maximum of 12 credits** in Semester 1. -Students with a high school average below 60% may be granted conditional admission, under the following conditions: Will undertake Amity Placement Test (APT) for the specific course: -BS Computer Science: APT for Mathematics and any one of the Science courses (Physics or Chemistry or Biology) -BS Biotechnology: APT for any one of the Science courses (Physics or Chemistry or Biology) -Failure to attain a score of >= 60% in APT will limit the student’s enrollment to a maximum of 12 credits** in Semester 1. Student scoring less than 60% in any other subject other than Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry or Biology will be allowed to enroll for a maximum of 12 credits in Semester 1; which will solely encompass credit bearing courses. Students must achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 in the first semester. Failure to meet this requirement will result in probation. **12 Credits encompasses credit bearing courses (including a combination of GenEd courses and introductory level courses) and remedial courses, the composition of which is as per Dean’s discretion. Hostel Fees: • Single Occupancy: 40,000 AED (Sep–Jun) | 20,000 AED (Feb–Jun) • Double Occupancy: 25,000 AED (Sep–Jun) | 12,500 AED (Feb–Jun)
